Honouring the creative tension between self transformation and ecological engagement as a catalyst for liberation.

As the climate crisis and ecological loss intensify, as the weight of social and political complexity continues to erupt globally, as human suffering persists and calls for justice amplify, what does it mean to practice in a way that genuinely meets the conditions of the world? How can we cultivate the skill, courage, wisdom and love that is needed to serve the Earth and all of us?

We will gather on retreat - as we did last year, and going forward annually - to face these questions, grounded in the abundance of this living Earth. Among the ancient trees and rolling meadows of rural France, join us for meditation, connection to nature, regenerative activism, and deep inquiry.

This retreat will tap into the deeper resources we need to face the challenges of our times. We’ll explore how socially engaged ecological action can be deeply nourished by dharma practice in nature. Cultivating emotional resilience, wisdom and letting go; opening to the ongoing nourishment and teachings of the Earth, we will strengthen capacities that enable us to stay open and responsive – avoiding the dangers of emotional hardening, cynicism, and overwhelm.

This is a retreat for meditators new and old, activists, artists, farmers, scientists, healers, and leaders. Guided by seasoned teachers that are bridging contemplative and engaged approaches, we will participate in a program that integrates three specific strands of practice:

  • Deep silent contemplation and guided meditation will allow us to drop into fuller awareness and work with the intricate aspects of the heart.

  • Relational, community-based and ‘outer’ exploration will engage us in workshop style activities, towards more collective learning.

  • Appreciating the beauty of the land, each day will offer outdoor nature-connection and contemplative arts sessions, as we practice amidst the mosses, the surrounding forests and the living land that can nourish and support.

We hope you will join us!
